The Student Business Center – TAP Tutor Tutor is responsible for tutoring students in a variety of business courses as well as providing general assistance to students visiting the Lab.

Minimum Education/Experience

Completion of minimum of 6 combined credit hours of accounting, economics or statistics.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge and ability to assist students in business related activities.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Desire to aid students learning business subjects.

Strong basic math skills.

Ability to work with a diverse student population effectively.

Basic Computer/Internet skills.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently move about the Accounting/Business Lab to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to occasionally position self to work on lab equipment, to assist customers, and to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to operate a computer and other accounting lab/office machinery to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.

3. VISUAL ACUITY: This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS This position performs the essential functions in an indoor lab, classroom, and/or office setting.

Effectively interact with students to provide further understanding of accounting studies and reinforce class instruction.

Tutor students in a variety of courses.

Assist students in their study of accounting and business.

Assist students with the use of computers in the Lab

Help maintain the cleanliness of the Lab.

Administrative duties as needed.

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
