Student Activities strives to provide student-led events and services that cultivate community, inspire personal growth outside the classroom, and facilitate belonging for all UAA students. The Student Activities events team conceptualize, plan, and deliver an inclusive array of social and educational events such as video game competitions, lecturers, comedians, musicians, spoken word artists, dances, game shows, outdoor recreational activities, cultural events, and other social programming. Student Activities Events Manager starts $12.77 per hour and can work up to 20 hours a week.
Duties:10Meetings: Event Manager will meet regularly with the Student Activities Coordinators and their respective student staff.Essential
10Support: Support events or services hosted or sponsored by Student Activities. Campus Kick- Off, Homecoming, as well as cultural and identity month programming.Essential
15Management: Event Manager will be responsible for coordinating schedules and supporting Event Leaders in the coordination of their events.Essential
15Marketing: Event Manager will be responsible for marketing events on social media and advertising them to the campus community.Essential
20Training: Event Manager will train and provide support to Event Leaders in developing and marketing events.Essential
30Planning: Event Manager will conceptualize, plan, and deliver an inclusive array of social and educational events such as video game competitions, lecturers, comedians, musicians, spoken word artists, dances, game shows, outdoor recreational activities, cultural events, and other social programming.Essential

Required Experience & Education:
To be eligible for student employment at UAA, a student must: a. be enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or b. for employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and c. not work hours which interfere with class attendance; and d. have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
Salary Information:
This position is limited to 20 hours per week and pays $12.77 per hour.
