Strategic Communications and Evaluation Officer (Research & Innovation)

Full time, fixed term or secondment opportunity (3 years)

The University of Oxford is seeking an exceptional and creative communicator with a passion for telling stories about world-changing research. Working as part of the Research & Innovation Communications team, you'll help share news of the latest discoveries from one of the world's leading universities.

You'll be comfortable delivering proactive media outreach and story-telling across a broad range of communications channels. With first-hand communications and media experience, you'll have a nose for a story, creative flair, as well as the ability to engage key non-media audiences that may include politicians and policymakers, industry representatives, and funding bodies.

As well as contributing to cross-disciplinary campaigns around topics such as artificial intelligence or climate change, you'll have responsibility for contributing to the smooth running of the university news office.

A key focus of this role is to support the Public Affairs Directorate Leadership Team with evaluation and insight activity. will include evaluating our storytelling and its impact across paid, earned and owned to inform our understanding, identify stakeholders and develop audience insight. Using this evaluation you will help to identify opportunities, support decision-making and inform our communications approach to improve our work so it is as relevant, meaningful and effective as possible.

Other core duties will involve compiling the Daily News Alert and taking part in rotas for the news office mailbox and weekend duty rotas which can include the reactive handling of sensitive corporate and policy issues.
