Our group and research
The Globe Institute's Center for Evolutionary Hologenomics consists of ca 50 people, whose research integrates aspects of laboratory and computational genomics with microbiomics, in order to answer questions related to both basic and applied biology.
Project description
The B10k project aims to produce reference quality genome sequences for as many of the ca. 10,000 avian species as possible. The project is a large international consortium, although coordinated between Copenhagen (Prof Tom Gilbert) and China (Prof Guojie Zhang). As part of this we wish to hire an Academic Employee who will report to Prof Gilbert in Copenhagen, who will be principally tasked with collating high molecular weight DNA containing specimens from collections around the world, and coordinating the work relating to performing QC on the DNA, conversion of the DNA into stLFR libraries, and the logistics behind arranging sequencing of the libraries at facilities in China and Latvia. Secondary tasks will include managing and QC assessing samples for use in DNA analyses of historic avian samples, and their subsequent conversion of the DNA into NGS compatible sequencing libraries.

Terms of employment
The employment as staff scientist is a full-time position for 18 months, with starting date 1st February 2025.
Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
