Applications are invited for a SQL Programmer/Data Manager, to work with the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) research group led by Professor Clare Bankhead on a wide range of research projects including cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease and other long-term conditions, respiratory disease, mental illness, and healthcare utilisation.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to undertake quantitative work using large electronic primary care datasets, and preparing data for analysis by internal and external researchers. You will be working with colleagues to define clear requirements to support researchers in their findings as well as supporting other members of the data team in providing datasets to the researchers. Responsibilities will include data management, manipulating large and complex relational datasets, working to data specifications to extract data from large electronic health record systems, developing coding strategies, methods, and other functionalities to make data available to researchers. You will also contribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures for data provision, data manipulation and management, archiving and destruction of datasets.

We are seeking someone who is educated to Master's level with appropriate experience or has equivalent work experience. You will have previous experience of data management of large-scale relational datasets, preferably in primary care and/or other electronic medical health records; and experience of programming skills preferably in Microsoft T-SQL (MS-SQL 2019), amongst other analytical and quantitative skills.

You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG,with an opportunity for remote working that you will agree upon with your line manager.

The position is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
