The Speech Lab Technician will work with students recording speeches.

Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
OR
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
AND
Successful completion of Comm 2213 or Comm 1123 or equivalent; or currently enrolled in Comm 2213 or Comm 1123 with Faculty recommendation.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of computer operation(use of video recording software and basic file management)
Demonstrated positive interpersonal communication skills
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom or lab to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to operate a computer, other machinery/equipment, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
3. VISUAL ACUITY: This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS This position performs the essential functions in an indoor classroom, lab, or office setting.

Required Training
Position will be required to train with the Instructional Video Services (IVS) department prior to start of job.
Work Hours
Flexible, depending on the needs of the lab and the class schedule of the student.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Proper setup and operation of camera and tripod.
Proper setup of teleprompter for text display and video signal display.
Utilization of computer software for recording.
Assisting student in use of speech lab equipment (camera, teleprompter and computer).
Monitor equipment and keep lab open during scheduled hours.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
