Position SummaryThe Assistant Director of AgBioResearch (ABR) will be responsible for leadership of internal grant programs focused on research to advance the agriculture industry, in cooperation with others. This position will contribute to ABR leadership and oversight of critical research infrastructure supporting agriculture on campus and across the State of Michigan, and help facilitate ongoing relationships with agriculture industry partners in Michigan.
Initial emphasis will be on providing leadership to the Michigan Alliance for Animal Agriculture (M-AAA) program including proposal preparation and serving as principal investigator on a grant award from Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development that provides funding for the M-AAA competitive grants program along with administration of M-AAA grant program execution. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for administration of other internal grants programs, such as the Rackham Foundation. The Assistant Director will contribute to administrative oversight for animal agriculture facilities on campus (South Campus Animal Farms; SCAF), in cooperation with the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and MSU Extension (MSUE). This position will also provide oversight and management of Research and Extension Centers supporting faculty programs, administered as part of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Research and Extension Centers (ANRREC) unit. This position will require travel.
The Assistant Director reports to the Director of ABR and works collaboratively with the ABR leadership team, faculty, academic units, partner colleges with ABR-affiliated faculty as well as colleagues in MSU Extension (MSUE), external stakeholders, local government officials and donors in execution of above responsibilities.

Required DegreeDoctorate -Agriculture related field
Minimum RequirementsMinimum Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of administrative and/or leadership experience directly relevant to Michigan agriculture; minimum of 5 years experience working collaboratively with industry partners representing the diversity of Michigan agriculture to advance common goals;
Working knowledge of agricultural research infrastructure and farm operations;
Prior supervisory and budget experience in an administrative capacity;
Working knowledge of grant administration and review process;
Ideal candidates should have proven leadership, management, and administrative skills and experience including the ability to work effectively with people, make decisions, and manage fiscal and personnel matters.
