Position Summary

The MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) is seeking applicants for a full time Career Advisor position. This position will work with the MSUCOM Office of Academic and Career Advising and works to serve osteopathic medical students through the career planning process throughout the 4-year D.O. curriculum. Located at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), this position will provide career advising and resources to medical students at all three MSUCOM campuses (East Lansing, Detroit Medical Center, and Macomb University Center), as well as those completing clinical rotations at 23 base hospitals across the state. Anticipated travel is minimal and student advising sessions that are not located at the DMC would take place via Zoom. Advising services will be offered through a combination of in-person, zoom, email, and phone interactions.

Required Degree

Masters

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must have at minimum a master's degree in education or relevant field.

Experience in working with adult learners.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in working with professional students and/or in an academic healthcare setting. Knowledge of adult learning, learning theory, and cognitive development.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; public speaking/presentation skills; and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
