Software Developer (at the rank of IT Technician) in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health (Ref.: 524699), to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed- term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a higher diploma or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related disciplines, with good command of both spoken English and Chinese, as well as at least 1 year of relevant work experience. They should be team players and able to communicate with different stakeholders. They should be problem-solvers with the desire to learn new technology. They should be familiar with (i) at least one high-level programming language (Python, JS, R, etc.); (ii) open-source technology stack (such as Docker, Linux distros, MSSQL Server/MySQL, Apache/Nginx, etc.); and (iii) version control (GitHub, GitLab, etc.).

Our team works on tools for complex analytics and visualization dashboards, in the context of research on the spread of respiratory infections such as COVID-19 and influenza in Hong Kong and around the world. The appointee will assist software development life cycle, on-premises and cloud networking, equipment procurement, event IT management, and help desk service. Working independently and outside office hours is required occasionally.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
