The Cavendish Laboratory (Department of Physics) has a rare opportunity for a new dynamic and skilled Soft Facilities Manager to join our passionate and dedicated community. The roleholder will lead the strategic development of the Department's soft facilities service delivery to enhance the Cavendish's continued growth and success. The soft facilities team encompasses a wide- range of support for a community of staff and students whose remit includes soft facilities and services, reception, concierge, workplace management and stores services.

The Cavendish Laboratory is at an exciting point in its 150-year history, and undergoing a substantial period of transformation, as it prepares for its relocation to a beautiful, purpose-built physics facility, the Ray Dolby Centre, which will be the centre-piece of the new Cavendish III Laboratory. The Department is home to over 2000 staff, students and visitors across a large range of disciplines and categories, where exemplary delivery of world- leading, innovative research programmes and teaching takes place and where the provision of an outstanding soft facilities service will be vital to delivering the vision for the new Estate.

The successful candidate will be a positive and forward looking people manager with an excellent understanding of facilities management business strategy to lead a new team at a pivotal point in the Department's history, champion change and drive continuous improvement. You will have a clear commitment to service delivery, strong leadership and management skills, excellent interpersonal skills and experience of developing and managing a newly formed team. You will engage proactively with the department and be keen to support the wider goals of teaching and research.

As a senior member of the Department, you will work closely with the Head of Cavendish Estates to ensure the Department's approach to the soft facilities provision is both collaborative and innovative. You will lead, and work operationally with, a dedicated team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of all soft facilities services within the Department.
