Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal has carved out a distinct niche by offering smaller class sizes, a robust liberal education and unique undergraduate programs. Mount Royal University is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is "Mohkinstsis," which we now call the city of Calgary. About the Role

Housed within Wellness Services, the Healthy Campus Team Social Media Lead will be responsible for the overall management and growth of the @MRULiveWell Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. In partnership with Mount Royal University Marketing, the Social Media Lead will be trained to use Hootsuite Enterprise to effectively and creatively manage the Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts while substantially growing the accounts as a key university peer-to-peer communication.

This is a casual position working 13.25 hours per week on a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Administrator and community manager of Wellness Services' social media accounts within the MRU's Social Networking Guidelines
  • Manage and curate content for the accounts from the Social Media Content Request Google Form
  • Coordination and creation of content from a diverse group of internal stakeholders
  • Answer questions submitted to the accounts in a timely manner and proactively create conversation with MRU students
  • Create an MRU Live Well Content and Editorial Calendar for the accounts in partnership with Marketing and in consultation with the Healthy Campus Team
  • Collaborate with Marketing to set goals and create timely and appropriate social media campaigns that can be monitored and reported using Hootsuite Enterprise
  • Create and provide monthly social media reports
  • Provide year-end reports on account analytics, as well as the impact of the accounts
  • Participate in collaborative meetings and discussions with a diverse group of internal stakeholders to brainstorm content and facilitate communication cross-campus for the MRU Live Well accounts
  • Attend relevant events on campus to capture and share real-time messages and photos, ensuring privacy and Social Networking Guidelines are upheld
  • Periodically “take over” other Mount Royal social media channels such as @MRULife Instagram stories for relevant campaigns or designated weeks
  • Qualifications
  • Some experience with the following:
  • Social media marketing and communication of a business, brand or organization
  • Using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and ideally Hootsuite/Plannoly as a social media dashboard
  • Content creation and development with a long term mindset of purposeful social media posts and content
  • Writing and editing creatively while using a style guide and paying special attention to spelling and grammar
  • Ability to take various forms of information provided by a diverse group of stakeholders and create relevant, appropriate, and timely posts
  • Personal passion for health and wellness (including mental health), and a desire to reach out, connect, and network with peers
  • Knowledge of mental health is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Mount Royal University's Wellness Services is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to show good judgment
  • Knowledge of how to use Google Suite (docs, sheets, calendar, forms, Gmail etc.) is considered an asset
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people at all levels and collaborate respectfully
  • Familiarity with photography and design elements
