Work Arrangements
Majority of work will occur in-person at the New Westminster campus between
8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Schedule flexibility may be needed
on occasion.

The Role
The Skills for Success Coach is responsible for participant recruitment &
intakes, curriculum development and facilitation of Skills for Success
training, and the provision of one-to-one skills coaching support for Q+ Works
program participants.
Q+ Works is an innovative, responsive employment and skills training program
for 2SLGBTQIA+ Young Adults that employs principles of Universal Design for
Learning, Co-Design, and Hope-Centred Career Development. Participants will
develop workplace skills by choosing, undertaking, and managing a group
project, while researching relevant career and educational pathways, visiting
employer sites, and engaging with guest speakers and employer panels to expand
their networks. The 10-week program features 6 weeks of in-person cohort-based
training and 4 weeks of individual and group meetings to finalize training
plans, begin job search, and/or prepare applications for further education or
training.
Responsibilities
Participant Recruitment and Intakes:
Actively assist with participant recruitment and marketing efforts.
Deliver Information Sessions.
Review applications and select applicants.
Conduct intake interviews and informal assessments to determine
suitability for program.
Curriculum Development and Facilitation:
Develop Skills for Success curriculum that employs the principles of
Universal Design for Learning and incorporates the principles of Co-design
where possible.
Facilitate group and one-to-one Skills for Success (S4S) training.
Assist participants as they choose, undertake and manage a group project.
Encourage sociability, friendship, and a positive peer group that embraces
teamwork and a non-competitive collective sensibility.
Assessments and Training Plans:
Assist in the development of Participant Training Plans.
Invigilate the customized Skills for Success Assessment (S4SA).
Debrief S4SA results and provide an individual learning plan to develop
Skills for Success.
Administer and debrief social emotional self-assessment tools .
Follow-up Supports:
Provide participants with ongoing individual and group skills training
support and guidance as needed throughout lifespan of project.
Community Connections:
Develop and build connections with 2SLGBTQIA+ focused and/or friendly
organizations.
Coordinate workshops with guest speakers (employers, and community
organizations) and hiring events (career fair).
Participate in events and panels with other organizations as they arise.
Equity, Diversity, Accessibility and Inclusion:
Celebrate diversity and foster an equitable, accessible and inclusive
program where all feel a sense of belonging.
Work collaboratively with our inclusivity partner to apply an
intersectional lens to ensure accessibility and inclusivity through all
phases of the program.
Administration:
Maintain records of participant progress, community connections and
curriculum.
Adhere to privacy requirements and follow the department's file saving
practices.
Develop a Facilitation guide and contribute to a Program Guide.
Participate in team meetings.
Complete and/or contribute to reports and paperwork as requested.
Contribute to the department's ISO 9001:2015 certified Quality Management
System.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
Skills For Success certificate is preferred.
Minimum 2 years' experience in related field. Skills training is
preferred.
Ability to facilitate engaging in person and online programming.
Experience and/or knowledge of:
Skills for Success Assessments and Facilitation;
Curriculum design;
Universal Design for Learning;
Trauma Informed Practice;
Principles of Co-Design.
Experience working with young adults who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+.
Strong computer skills including advanced proficiency in internet
research, Office 365 applications, and social media.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Proven ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary
team with capacity to take initiative and calmly handle changing
circumstances.
Preference will be given to 2SLGBTQIA+ candidates with lived experience
that possess the qualifications for this position.
