COTEC is an outstation of Cranfield Defence and Security within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences and is located on Salisbury Plain south of Devizes. The site is leased from the MOD and all range operations are carried out under the authority of Defence Training Estates Salisbury Plain DTE(SP). The site carries out a large range of tasks primarily based around the testing and evaluation of explosives, ordnance and munitions for defence and commercial customers. The site also carries out research and supports the research projects of Cranfield University students.

    About the Role

You will provide and deliver comprehensive operational site services at COTEC, encompassing Health and Safety, Statutory Inspections, Quality Management, Procurement, Contractor Oversight, Transport, Fuel Management, and the maintenance of Plant and Machinery. You will use detailed knowledge of site systems and procedures to ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.

You will continually review and assess service delivery and work with suppliers, contractors, and colleagues to implement improvements and ensure that services and building infrastructure are reliable, fit for purpose, and optimised for operational needs. You will identify areas for improvement, prioritise initiatives, and ensure compliance with current operational standards.

You will independently manage maintenance and repairs, coordinate minor works, arrange access, and oversee the issuance of work permits. In liaison with Landmarc/the landlord, you will ensure the availability of site specific supplies and services.

You will coordinate and manage a team of four range technical staff. You will create a collaborative team environment, delegate responsibilities, and assist with prioritising workloads to maintain efficient site services.

    About You

You will have an HNC or NVQ (Level 4) in a relevant subject area and/or experience in a similar role, with evidence of formal health and safety training relevant to site management. You will hold a valid UK driving licence. Substantial experience in managing or assisting in site maintenance / management including health and safety is essential, along with knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to site or property management.
