The Faculty of Education is seeking a qualified sessional instructor to teach the following course during the 2023-24 academic year in our Graduate program:

02.793 (NET) Graduate Explorations in Education: TRC and the Curriculum – Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being (2024 Summer Session, Term 2: July 29 – August 19, 2024)

This course will focus on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action with a particular focus on their curricular and pedagogical implications in Canadian school contexts. Through participation in the course, students will consider Indigenous ways of knowing, doing, and being, and their promise for students and for education more broadly.

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a relevant master's degree. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Ph.D. with a specialization in curriculum and pedagogy. Applicants with backgrounds in Indigenous cultural and teaching practice coming from a background alternative to a master's or doctoral degree are encouraged to apply. Applicants with an alternative background are invited to contact the Graduate Studies Chair for information on how to establish equivalent credentials; please direct such inquiries to the email address listed below. Applicants must have knowledge of philosophical and theoretical curriculum foundations. An understanding of Manitoba school curriculum, successful teaching in K-12 classrooms, and experience in teaching online would be assets. The successful candidate must also be accepted into the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Salary: As of September 1, 2022, $6,314 per 3 credit hour course
