DUTIES

Teach one on-campus face-to-face lecture section of GEOG 1000 Planet Earth: Introduction to Earth System Science. In this course, the successful candidate would give lectures to support students in examining the interactions between the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere as well as the impact that human activity and sustainable practices have on these interactions. Course content focuses on the interaction between landscape and the occurrence, distribution and movement of water. Topics include landslides, glaciers, rivers, soils, drought, flooding, wildfires, ground water and the impact of human activity on these phenomena.

The ideal candidate would be able to support students in recognizing the complimentary nature of Western and Secwépemc ecological knowledge.

The instructor is responsible for marking exams and assignments, and consulting with students in person by email, or via Moodle.

The candidate would work with the laboratory coordinator to coordinate the timing of lectures and lab content. Materials (lecture notes and slides) for past offerings of the course are available to the successful candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in Geography or related environmental discipline required. PhD candidates and/or relevant Master's Degrees with professional experience that contributes to engaged scholarly teaching will be considered..
