DUTIES
The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach a section of the following course: ESTR 0110-01 (Practical Experience 2).
Course Description: Students complete the Educational Skills Training Program with a six-week practicum in a business related to their field of training. Students will be required to work at least 20 hours per week and perform the functions of an entry-level employee. Students are expected to demonstrate the skills learned in the program. Students must successfully complete the practicum in order to graduate from the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: - A Master's degree in a relevant discipline or Red Seal in a relevant field required. - Teaching Certificate or Instructor's Diploma or Special Education Certificate required
Experience: - Working with students with intellectual, developmental or learning disabilities or other neuro-diverse abilities required - Employment preparation/supporting students through career planning and career decision making process required - Work placement skills, practicum coordination experience with connections to local business required - Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle required - Project-based learning, experiential learning and/or integrating work-based learning with knowledge of the work setting relevant to the courses to be taught preferred - Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action 62) preferred - Skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 62) preferred - Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) preferred
