Position Title Service Learning Specialist-Part-time

Position Summary

The Service Learning Specialist-Part-time is responsible for providing operational and daily clerical support to service learning programs, activities, and projects associated with the CCVI/Hilton Service Learning Grant. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Ettling Center for Civic Leadership & Sustainability.

This is a grant-funded position with an expected end date of 06/30/2024 with expected regular renewal. Note that his position may be shortened or extended based on funds availability and the needs of the department.

This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties

  • Coordinates logistics for the successful implementation of service learning activities in partnership with UIW faculty.
  • Assists in creating and editing marketing materials in support of Service Learning opportunities.
  • Submits weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual reports noting the progress and status of the educational and service learning activities as it pertains to CCVI/Hilton grant.
  • Develops reporting presentations and executes as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience and competency in Microsoft Office Suite software programs, including Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, pubic speaking, written, presentation and digital communication skills.
  • Ability to create and edit marketing materials in support of Service Learning opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information, especially as it pertains to faculty, staff, and student information.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and perform several tasks concurrently; complete necessary paperwork and reports.
  • Must be able to work in a fluid, dynamic and innovative environment where priorities, tasks, and deadlines may change with short notice.
  • Help with creating an inclusive and welcoming, student‐centered environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Required Education

    High school graduate or GED equivalent.

    Required Work Experience

    One (1) year of office support experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a college/university environment.
  • One (1) year of experience in successful community service/community based/non‐profit, outreach programs, volunteer services, student services or student affairs organization.
  • Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

    Work Hours

  • Flexible hours of 20-25 hours per week within standard office hours of Monday through Fridays 8:00am to 5:00pm.
  • Hybrid in-person & remote work schedule may be coordinated after six months of in-person employment.
