Testing, Measurement, Thermodynamics and Vibration Measurement?
As a Senior Technical Officer , you will provide high level technical
support for teaching and research activities within the discipline of
Mechanical Engineering.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Fabricate, manufacture, repair, test and commission laboratory equipment
and associated systems as appropriate.
Responsible for the preparation of materials and setup of equipment for
laboratory classes and research activities, maintenance of general and
specialized laboratory and equipment, undertaking safety checks, and
arranging servicing or repair as required.
Supervising and providing technical instruction and guidance to staff and
students, including developing, implementing, and maintaining standard
operating procedures, risk assessments and other documentation for all
aspects of the laboratory operations.
Providing technical and teaching support to students and staff on the
design and development of experiments.

What we're looking for:
Qualifications & Experience: A degree qualification in Mechanical
Engineering and relevant experience; or a relevant trade qualification
with trade experience and expertise.
Management: The ability to manage the operational requirements of a
small scientific facility, laboratory space or workshop.
Design Experience: Proven expertise in designing, conducting, and
setting up intricate experiments, equipment, and systems.
Health & Safety: Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices
Interpersonal skills: The ability to work collaboratively and
effectively as part of a team as well as the ability to supervise the work
of others.
Communication: Effective written communication skills with the ability
to produce documents, correspondence, records, instructions and procedures
which are clear, accurate and concise.
If you have experience in CAD/CAM Design & Programming, CNC Machine operation
and/or handling hazardous substances and dangerous goods, we would be excited
to hear from you. A High-Risk work licenses such as Dogging, Rigging and
Forklift, is also desirable.
