Senior Student Opportunities Coordinator

Job Purpose

The postholder is responsible for the implementation of plans to identify, administer and deliver an extensive menu of opportunities to students including part time jobs and internships on-campus and locally off-campus. Responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Student Opportunities ensuring an excellent end to end experience for students and employers whilst meeting agreed Key Performance Indicators and targets to improve student employability and experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop, implement and administer processes, procedures and systems to support the delivery of student opportunities focussed on part time jobs and internships both on-campus and locally off-campus. This will include advertising, application, selection, quality assurance and reporting.

2. Support the expansion of on-campus opportunities by building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with hiring managers and relevant staff. Proactively identifying opportunities and follow up enquiries to achieve set targets and KPIs.

3. Support the expansion of local off-campus opportunities, focusing on part time job and internships through attendance at local networking events and connecting with local businesses.

4. Proactively seek feedback from key stakeholder groups including external employers, academic staffing, professional services colleagues, Student Representative Council (SRC), and People & Organisational Development to ensure continuous service improvement and an excellent student experience.

5. Support the Student Opportunities Manager to ensure student opportunities comply with all relevant health and safety procedures, regulations and legislation, including completing Risk Assessments and ensuring that participants comply with said arrangements.

6. Work with the Student Opportunities Manager to develop networking and marketing plans for the expansion of part time jobs and internship opportunities on-campus and locally off-campus.

7. Contribute to reports and documents for internal stakeholders by collating and analysing data, and using this to recognise trends, draw conclusions and make recommendations for future student opportunity delivery.

8. Work closely with other members of the Careers, Employability & Opportunity team in the delivery of the above and undertake any other relevant and appropriate duties as directed by the Student Opportunities Manager or Head of Employer Engagement.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Either: ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar role(s). Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2 Knowledge of the graduate labour market and issues surrounding the employability of students.

Desirable:

B1 Knowledge of MyCampus.

B2 Knowledge of Qlikview systems.

B4 Knowledge of PowerBI systems.

B3 Knowledge of Target Connect.

Skills

Essential:

C1 Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to use own initiative, exercise independent judgement, work under pressure, prioritise own workload and meet tight deadlines.

C2 Effective communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written, to interact and collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.

C3 Strong analytical abilities to logically assess data and apply effective evidence-based approaches to decision making, process improvements, and problem solving.

C4 Ability to understand market trends and industry changes to support team goals.

C5 Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

C6 Solutions focused with business process improvement.

C7 Ability to understand and apply policies, regulations, guidelines and standard operating procedures relevant to the role.

C8 Proficient user of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, web development software and similar online applications.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Relevant experience in a customer-focused environment, with strong end-to- end relationship management experience.

E2 Experience of implementing new processes and business systems to achieve support team goals and improved customer experience.

E3 Experience of working as part of a team and co-operating with people across organisational boundaries.

E4 Track record of coordinating marketing projects and delivering requirements relevant to the role within professional guidelines and organisational policy, applying initiative and independent judgement.

E5 Experience of supporting the achievement of targets set for business development purposes.

E6 Experience of analysing/evaluating/interpreting data to inform decision- making and service improvements.

E7 Experience of organising/coordinating and presenting at events.

Desirable:

F1 Experience of budget control and an understanding of financial management procedures.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 6, £32,332 - £36,024 per annum.

This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and open ended. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
