Senior Research Fellow Photonic Systems Circuits & Sensors Group

We are seeking an experienced researcher in the field of electronics to work on the design of CMOS electronic chips for fabrication at an external foundry. The successful applicant will also oversee the assembly and characterisation of integrated electronic and silicon photonic devices towards state of the art, high-speed photonic data transmission.

The EPSRC funded project is led by Professor Graham Reed and Professor David Thomson who have strong, internationally renowned track records in the fields of silicon photonics and integration with CMOS electronics. The successful candidate will join a large team of researchers focusing on the field of Silicon Photonics, based at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK.

Experience in analogue CMOS Electronic chip design, PCB design and the high- speed characterisation of electronic devices is essential for this role. It is expected that the candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent qualification related to this area.

The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of silicon photonics is desirable as is experience of characterisation integrated photonic circuits.

The post will be for up to 10 months in duration.
