Senior Research Fellow - Nitride Semiconductors (Fixed Term)

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance, with the potential to extend for a further 5 years subject to the availability of funding.

Applications are invited for a Senior Research Fellow in Atomically Thin Semiconductors. The post is intended to support research related to the work of the Cambridge 2DMD Group, and is available as a consequence of Professor Manish Chhowalla being awarded a Chair in Emerging Technologies by the Royal Academy of Engineering. The 2DMD Group is part of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge and also incorporates facilities from the Sir Henry Royce Institute.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a record of world-class research related to atomically thin semiconductors, within an established group with a strong international reputation in this area. They will be involved in the development of research proposals, as Principle Investigator and/or Co-Investigator, and in the leadership and management of research projects. They will develop and maintain strong collaborative links with other nitride research activities.

The role will require a balance of teaching, research and administrative duties. In terms of teaching, candidates should be able to, or have the strong potential to, inspire and educate a diverse range of students at all levels of the Departments' undergraduate and graduate programmes. Responsibilities will include full participation in the design and delivery of undergraduate and graduate courses, laboratory-based teaching, supervising student projects, examining, and supervising post-graduate research students.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have an academic record appropriate for their career stage.
