Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 526609) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Master's degree, preferably in Data Science or related disciplines, with at least 3 years' solid experience in R&D of software and web apps for ophthalmic application. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong communication skills; the familiarity with MongoDB, SQL, Javascript, R, Python, Django, Hadoop, Spark, C# and Unity; and the ability to work independently and as a team. Those with expertise in biostatistics, design of database for patient management and monitoring, and with experience in developing AI-based image analysis platform in healthcare are preferred.
The appointee will (i) design effective database solutions to store and retrieve research data; (ii) assist in collection and export of data from ophthalmic imaging; (iii) manual pixel-based annotation of images for dataset preparation; (iv) perform statistical analysis to identify biomarkers; (v) develop models for quantification of retinal layer structures; (vi) provide support in pixel-by-pixel alignment for time-series images; and (vii) perform other duties as assigned.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of the basic salary.
