Senior Research Assistant (holding the title of Counsellor) in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.:531239) (to commence on May 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Master's degree in Counselling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work from a local university or equivalent; at least 2 years of management or professional experience in mental health, family, or related settings with a proven record of achievements and success; previous working experiences in teaching, training, or education is an asset; s/he should be able to work independently, flexible, innovative, and responsible with excellent interpersonal and clinical skills.

The appointee will be responsible to provide overall management of the Counselling Unit, overseeing and implementing changes to ensure efficient and effective service delivery; assist the Director in planning and developing the unit as an educational platform for the MSocSc(Counselling) programme; oversee student and client progress and coordinate with counselling trainees and graduates' supervisors to ensure best practices are being followed; conduct initial assessments with clients and handle crisis management if necessary; manage student and graduate counselling trainees to ensure evidence-based services are delivered to service users; provide support and guidance to student and graduate counselling trainees; work in partnership with other relevant parties in the university and community to ensure effective communication about the services of the Unit; prepare reports and assist in students' mini research projects on the services and outcomes of the Unit.
