  • About CRC TiME

    The Cooperative Research Centre for Transformations in Mining Economies (CRC TiME) is a 10-year industry-led research program which commenced in 2020. CRC TiME Ltd is a non-profit company established to deliver strategic outcomes through the design, coordination and funding of a portfolio of research, translation and adoption projects drawing on funding committed by government, industry and research partner organisations. CRC TiME has more than 80 participating organisations. CRC TiME is hosted at the University of Queensland and the University of Western Australia.The CRC TiME Research Team comprises the Research Director and 4 academic Program Leaders who oversee a diverse portfolio of research projects, with two research operations positions to support the effective operations of the research program. The Research Director, Research Operations Manager and Senior Research Administration Officer are hosted at the Sustainable Minerals Institute at UQ and are UQ staff positions fully seconded to CRC TiME Limited.

    CRC TiME conducts research across four Program areas:

    1. Regional economic development 2. Risk, evaluation and planning 3. Operational solutions 4. Data integration, forecasting and scale.

    CRC TiME has a small team facilitating a diverse portfolio of research projects which are delivered by research partner institutions in collaboration with industry and government partners. The Senior Research Administration Officer will undertake a range of operational tasks to support the research portfolio and monitor progress of funded research projects.

    About This Opportunity

    The Senior Research Administration Officer will work closely with the Research Operations Manager under the direction of the Research Director, and in collaboration with Program Leaders. The work will also involve collaboration with the CRC TiME External Relations and Impact Team based at the University of WA.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Monitoring progress of research projects funded by CRC TiME

  • Work with Program Leaders to monitor progress of each research project and completion of project milestones.

  • Liaise with researchers at partner universities to gather information about project activities and record that information in the database.

  • Liaise with universities and PhD students to monitor progress of students receiving CRC TiME funded PhD scholarships.

  • Maintaining the research program database

    CRC TiME uses the turnKeyCRC database (a customised Salesforce database for CRCs) to track information about research projects, agreements, participating organizations, and project progress.

  • Maintain records for each research project and update project records for changes in personnel and activities.

  • Maintain contact records for researchers and industry partners.

  • Create reports for CRC TiME colleagues with information on projects and participating organizations.

  • Design reports to extract data from the Salesforce database and use this data to analyse project progress, funding allocations, and monitor the portfolio of projects.

  • Address inquiries from CRC TiME colleagues, researchers, and industry partners.

  • If skilled in Salesforce, upgrade the database user interface and field structures to meet operational needs.

  • Research funding agreements

  • Set up new project funding agreements in the turnKeyCRC database based on approved research proposals.

  • Liaise with universities and partner organisations to arrange signing of funding agreements.

  • Research project reporting

  • Coordinate quarterly reporting data collection via the turnKeyCRC database, gathering project progress updates from each research project and recording in-kind contributions from 80 partner organizations.

  • Liaise with researchers and organisation representatives to ensure all the relevant data is correctly recorded.

  • Gather information on academic publications related to CRC TiME funded projects and record this information in the database.

  • This will be offered as either a part-time or full-time (60%-100%), fixed- term position through to June 2027.

    At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099.39 - $94,512.08, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $103,076.28 - $110,579.13 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

    About You
  • Experience in research administration in a university Research Office or major research institution, with an understanding of research funding agreements and the operations of research projects.

  • Advanced computer application skills (especially Microsoft Office) with proficiency in managing databases and analysing data.

  • Salesforce system admin experience would be considered an advantage, or experience in database development/configuration.

  • Excellent organisational abilities with effective task prioritisation and meeting deadlines.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to write clear reports and advice on operational processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to investigate problems, seek information and interpret situations.

  • Work collaboratively within a virtual or distributed team and exercise judgment and initiative.

  • Understanding/experience with Government funding schemes with industry linkages and cross-institutional collaborations.

  • Relevant degree or equivalent combination of experience and education/training.
