About the role

  • Full-time, Fixed Term position until 31 December 2026

  • Salary Level HEW 6 + 17% Superannuation

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.

  • About You

    The College of Vocational Education, also known as CoVE, facilitates Women in STEM outreach activities with prospective and current students. The program provides practical experiences and opportunities to connect with RMIT alumnae.

    As a Senior Project Officer, you will report directly to the Women in STEM Engagement Coordinator. Your role will involve supporting the delivery of several key programs, including but not limited to the school outreach program Future STEM Leaders, other outreach activities, and on-campus student activities for both current and prospective students.

    To succeed in this role, you must have excellent organizational skills, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to manage relationships with teachers and schools. You will also be responsible for support staff scheduling and working on multiple projects simultaneously.

    Please note that this role may occasionally require working non-standard hours and leave restrictions may apply during peak periods.

    To be successful in this position, you'll have:

    Essential

  • Experience in program design, implementation and data-based evaluation and planning.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, build rapport and foster relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Project management experience and planning skills to ensure the achievement of project goals and ability to prioritise competing demands.

  • Strong skills in information and communication technologies, in particular the Microsoft Office suite of products including SharePoint and the ability to learn new technical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a broader team.

  • Desirable

  • An understanding of and/or interest in gender equity as a systemic, complex issue particularly in STEM.

  • Working in educational contexts, particularly primary or secondary, would be an advantage.

  • Experience with public communication to showcase and report on project outcomes.

  • Qualifications

  • A STEM qualification and/or relevant industry experience.

  • A driver's license is required for this position (provisional or full).

  • Experience in outreach, education student engagement or program delivery is desirable.

  • Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
