  • Commencement Salary: $96,696 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
  • About the Role

    Reporting to the Manager: Capital Development, the Senior Project Officer is responsible for leading and managing the planning and delivery of projects in support of capital works and maintenance programs within the University's built asset environment.

    This position will support the Manager: Capital Development and Project Management Team in the delivery of the approved Minor Capital Works Program. The projects within the program are identified each calendar year to meet specific corporate objectives and are aligned with the strategic objectives of the university. The projects have an individual value of up to 2M.

    The Facilities Management Unit (FMU) provides support to the University's teaching, research and support functions in three primary areas:

    Capital Development : Planning, procurement and delivery of capital and maintenance projects aligned to strategic objectives. The annual capital works and maintenance budget ranges from $30M - $40M which includes in-progress capital projects of up to $250M.

    Campus Operations : Management of FMU's on campus service delivery including:

  • Security (including crisis management)
  • Cleaning
  • Parking
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Mail and courier services
  • Hire of facilities
  • Contract and contractor support
  • Asset renewal – Site Engineering, Building Services and Fabric
  • Reactive, routine and major cyclic maintenance
  • Technical advice
  • Asset information
  • Utilities management (gas, water and electricity)
  • Commercial Services including:

  • UniPrint
  • Contract Management
  • Management of property leases and licenses
  • Tenders and procurement of services
  • Fleet management and chauffeured vehicles.
  • Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline i.e., Construction/Facilities Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Property Related Field and/or demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience within industry
  • Demonstrated experience in analysing stakeholders' needs and developing robust project briefs
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management principles, tools and techniques with a proven ability to achieve project objectives/quality outcomes within strict time and cost constraints
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical issues and requirements for commercial buildings
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective leadership and management of multi-disciplinary project teams including technical and specialist resources and external consultants
