  • About This Opportunity

    We are seeking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to manage construction projects. This role encompasses leading project outcomes across all aspects of the project life-cycle, including project initiation and planning, developing processes to monitor and evaluate the project, managing project deliverables and communication, facilitating stakeholder engagements, coordinating procurement and contract negotiations, and supporting project reporting requirements.

    Note: For candidates who are successful in the first round of interviews, there may be a second round of interviews that will include a 30 mins presentation on a prescribed scenario.

    Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing all aspects of the project/programmes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, including initiatives that span across organisational units and multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Undertaking portfolio-specific strategic project planning, including the provision of expert project management advice to senior leaders, key stakeholders and other project staff.

  • Developing and executing detailed project plans for all phases of the project life-cycle.

  • Effectively leading and managing the project team, including planning and prioritising project team activities.

  • Identifying, controlling and managing issues, risks, dependencies and changes in project scope, including the development of issues and risk registers and project monitoring and evaluation processes.

  • Leading tender and vendor evaluation, selection and alignment processes/activities which comply with organisational procurement policies and procedures.

  • Implementing and when required adjusting best-practice project management methodologies to increase efficiency, boost productivity and achieve project/programme objectives on time and within budget.

  • Working creatively to identify and resolve complex issues or problems impacting the successful delivery of project outcomes.

  • Building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with project-critical stakeholders, client groups, partners and colleagues.

  • This is a Full-time , Fixed-term position of 3 years . At HEW Level 9 , the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $123,496.74 to $130,685.52 plus a generous super allowance of 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $144,491.19 to $152,902.06 per annum.

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager with qualifications in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related field or an equivalent combination of qualifications and workplace experience. In addition, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing large, complex and/or cross- portfolio projects, ideally within a large and complex organisation.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the application of best-practice project management methodologies as appropriate to the size, scale, scope and complexity of the project.

  • Knowledge of and experience in coordinating vendor selection, alignment, and contract negotiation.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and critically analyse complex technical specifications related to building design, construction and whole of life maintenance.

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge of project and construction contract management principles and ability to apply associated skills in a complex environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the effective liaison and negotiation skills needed to develop and maintain strong working relationships within a School/Faculty/Institute/Portfolio, and the wider University community.

  • Demonstrated high level organisational ability, attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.

  • Experience leading project team staff, including planning, organising, performance management, recognition and development of staff.

  • Previous Senior Project Manager experience within a tertiary and/or research institution would be highly valued.
