  • About This Opportunity

    This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Officer, Insurance to take on a pivotal and diverse role in the Insurance Services team, based within the Governance and Risk Division. In this role, you will provide administrative and customer service support; including general insurance assistance to staff and students and managing the annual insurance renewal data collection process.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary responsibility for managing enquiries from staff, students and third parties in relation to UQ's insurance portfolio, liaising with the wider Insurance Services team and with UQ's insurers and insurance broker as required.

  • Day-to-day responsibility for coordinating the enterprise-wide data collection for the annual renewal of the University's insurance policies, managing stakeholder enquiries about that process, and collating data for submission to UQ's broker and insurers.

  • Support internal stakeholders as required to procure additional insurance cover for clinical trials (including overseas sites), liaising with UQ's broker / insurer on their behalf.

  • Assist with insurance claims, managing claims under some policies (including marine hull, marine transit and travel) and liaising with the wider team and UQ's insurer and insurance broker as required.

  • Process payment of insurance premiums, other insurance-related invoices and manage internal cost allocation according to UQ policy and procedure.

  • Act as ‘super user' for UQ's Governance, Risk and Compliance system on behalf of the Insurance Services team.

  • Monitor and maintain Insurance Services' webpages (including certificates of currency) to ensure content is current, and liaise with the wider team as required regarding content updates.

  • This is a full-time, permanent position.

    At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099 - $94,512, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $103,076 - $110,579 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

    About You
  • Demonstrated competence in the conduct of insurance-related administration, including the ability to review work practices and update procedures and processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with clients by telephone and email.

  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload, work independently with attention to detail, and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of the processing of insurance claims in a large to medium sized organisation or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.

  • Completion of a relevant undergraduate degree or diploma / advanced diploma with at least 2 years' subsequent related work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education / training.

  • Experience in the use of a wide range of computer applications (particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire proficiency in new computer applications.

  • Sound knowledge of a range of insurance products relevant to the University, or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the University's financial management policies and procedures found in the University's Policies and Procedures Library (PPL), or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret insurance policy wording.

  • Experience working in a higher education provider or comparable complex environment.
