  • About This Opportunity

    The Senior Engagement Officer (Gatton Campus) coordinates a comprehensive program of engagement initiatives to support the Faculty of Science's and UQ Gatton Campus' strategic engagement priorities, profile building, and projects.

    This role works closely with the Director, Gatton Campus and several teams across UQ, acting as a key liaison for external stakeholders. You'll coordinate and deliver engagement activities, events and targeted communications for audiences including local industry, government, local community, partners, alumni, current students.. Additionally, you will support key projects for Gatton Campus and occasionally support broader Faculty engagement activities to achieve strategic goals.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, deliver, evaluate and report on strategically aligned engagement initiatives for key audiences, including but not limited to: partners, local industry, government, local community.

  • Collaborate with the Gatton Campus Director and internal stakeholders to build and nurture relationships with diverse external stakeholders.

  • Identify and share opportunities to build and enhance relationships and partnerships aligned to strategic priorities for Gatton Campus.

  • Represent the University at functions and liaise with external presenters and guests.

  • Serve as the key contact for Gatton Campus engagement activities.

  • Plan, manage, and evaluate events, coordinating logistics and ensuring goals are met.

  • Support project planning, delivery, documentation and evaluation to support strategic priorities and reporting against key milestones and deliverables.

  • Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues and clients, contributing to continuous improvement and effective communication.

  • Create and deliver brand-compliant communications across various channels, and evaluate engagement activities to report on effectiveness and improve outcomes.

  • Location and Travel

  • The position is primarily based at the Gatton Campus with 1-2 days per fortnight working from St Lucia campus.

  • Travel may also be required to other UQ sites e.g. other campuses, facilities and/or Research Stations.

  • Undertake occasional out-of-hours work as required to ensure timely service delivery and represent the University at events e.g. Open Day, local community events

    This position reports to Manager, Engagement and Outreach within the Marketing, Communications and Future Students Unit, Faculty of Science.

    Key internal client relationships: Office of the Director, Gatton Campus.

  • About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, public relations, communications, marketing or related discipline with minimum 4 years' subsequent relevant work experience in engagement, or equivalent combination of relevant professional experience and education/training

  • Demonstrated experience and capability across stakeholder relationship and partnership management, community engagement, events management, external and internal engagement

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful engagement plans and initiatives for a variety of audiences

  • Demonstrated project management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to run stakeholder workshops to support delivery of strategic objectives.

  • Demonstrated experience translating complex information into plain language as demonstrated through recent work experience and a track record of successful delivery

  • Ability to work with stakeholders on the translation of strategic priorities into successful engagement activities

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills for a variety of internal and external stakeholders and audiences

  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and proactively and meet deadlines with attention to detail

  • Demonstrated analytical and interpretative skills and an ability to exercise judgement and problem solve

  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, outcomes-focussed, teamwork and high-quality client service

  • High level of proficiency using MS Office suite

  • Strong knowledge and experience or ability to quickly acquire a high level of capability using email marketing platforms (Vision6), social media platforms and scheduling systems (Falcon), web content management systems (Drupal), Microsoft SharePoint, Photoshop, project management software etc

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering engagement services within the university sector or within a large organisation
