  • About This Opportunity

    An exceptional opportunity has emerged within this division for a Senior Space Manger to join the team. Reporting to the Director, Campus Planning, the successful candidate will provide expert advice to the Division on all matters relating to the University's space requirements. This includes management of all relevant systems and procedures to allow proper monitoring, evaluation and reporting on space, including its allocation and utilisation.

    Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development of strategic policies and procedures to deliver effective and efficient space use across all UQ campuses and sites.

  • Ensuring optimal utilisation of space at strategic and operational levels in accordance with statutory requirements and UQ objectives.

  • Management of the University's space inventory database and maintenance of records on space allocation and utilisation.

  • Consulting with stakeholders throughout the University to deliver efficient outcomes that align with space management policies and relevant strategic plans.

  • Provision of advice on future space requirements based on growth forecasts and assessment of needs.

  • Benchmarking and comparisons with other tertiary institutions and industry best practice.

  • Driving business improvement through development and implementation of innovative systems and technologies to assist with planning and optimisation of space.

  • Leadership of a small team including coaching, performance management and fostering a culture of client-focused service delivery.

  • This is a Full-time , Continuing position. At HEW Level 9 , the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $127,496.67 to $134,829.23 plus a generous super allowance of 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $149,171.11 to $157,750.20 per annum.

    About You
  • Qualifications in architecture, interior design, facilities management or a related field with relevant space management experience in a large institutional environment.

  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to present and explain complex information, influence others, overcome challenges and deliver change.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in development and implementation of a program of initiatives to meet space management objectives and achieve continuous improvement of policy, procedures and systems.

  • Familiarity with the Archibus integrated facilities management platform, or similar software.

  • Demonstrated experience in the management, mentoring and performance management of a diverse team.

  • Knowledge of best practice and emerging trends in use and management of space.
