Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 526070) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and mutual agreement.)

The Faculty of Business and Economics of The University of Hong Kong (HKU Business School) strives to foster both academic and applied research to serve the needs of Hong Kong, China, and the rest of the world in the fast- changing global economy. The Faculty is currently elevating its research centres and institutes as an enabling platform to promote interdisciplinary research, engage with the community and generate impacts on society. Applicants should possess:

  • a good Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related discipline;
  • at least 5 years' relevant experience, preferably with at least 3 years in a managerial role;
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese);
  • a good knowledge of the Chinese social media landscape;
  • a strong motivation in collaborating with academics to identify new angles of research in response to current trends;
  • proven ability to manage fast-moving projects and collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams in a complex environment; and
  • an extensive network with the media, agencies, editors and multimedia producers is a definite advantage.
  • The appointee will work closely with the Centre/Institute Directors and researchers to:

  • develop and implement marketing and communications strategies to optimise the exposure of the Centres/Institutes to the academic and business community, public, media and government; provide regular data and trends analysis with actionable insights;
  • coordinate with researchers, editors and multimedia producers to develop and manage the content of websites, social media and digital communications on the latest news, events highlight, impact stories, academic and research excellence of the Centres/Institutes;
  • plan and implement knowledge exchange initiatives to maximise researcher engagement with non-academic audiences and research users to create opportunities for collaboration and impact; and
  • plan and organise academic and outreach events, such as high-level conferences/meetings, press conferences, signing ceremonies and networking events.
