  • This is a full-time, continuing position with FTE salary in the range $124,996.74 to $132,185.52, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

  • About This Opportunity

    The Senior Manager, Education Insights and Analysis:

  • Leads the establishment and management of the Education Insights and Analysis team within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic (DVCA).

  • Coordinates with the DVCA, UQ's Planning and Business Intelligence unit, and all Faculties to consolidate operational data for evidencing education excellence aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Directs a dedicated team in providing metrics, data reports/visualizations, and in-depth analysis to inform management decision-making and recommend customized interventions and support across UQ.

  • Supports the delivery of the Learning and Student Experience Roadmap by conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis and reporting to demonstrate and enhance the impact of education activities, contributing to success metrics.

  • Key responsibilities will include:

    Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead, develop, and manage the Education Insights and Analysis team, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance monitoring.

  • Collaborate university-wide to produce education insights reports and presentations, aiding decision-making processes and aligning with educational goals.

  • Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Identify areas requiring customised interventions or support and collaborate with relevant teams to implement approved solutions.

  • Collaborate with professional and academic staff to identify specific data requirements for measuring and evaluating learning patterns relevant to their disciplines.

  • Support and enable improvements to and uptake of learning analytics to inform education across all Schools and Faculties.

  • Lead cross-functional activities using data modelling and analysis techniques to derive insights for strategic decision-making in educational activities.

  • Collaborate with the University's Planning and Business intelligence unit to develop and expand the University's centralised collections of data and reports to deliver a comprehensive overview of portfolio activities, student feedback and teaching insights.

  • Present findings and recommendations based on analysis to a broad range of stakeholders across the University, including senior management.

  • Quality Assurance and Strategy Development:

  • Contribute to educational excellence strategies in alignment with organizational roadmaps.

  • Develop and sustain a deep understanding of the education portfolios operations, profile and performance, as well as existing and emerging issues within the higher education sector, to inform analysis and build competitive insights for education at UQ.

  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of data collection, analysis, and reporting and the systematic, ethical, and transparent use of data sharing agreements and privacy.

  • Support the development of knowledge management practices within the organization.

  • About You
  • Lead small teams and advocate for data-informed education practices, leveraging extensive qualifications or relevant experience in fields like data science, social science, psychology, or economics.

  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders across units and with senior executives to champion data informed education.

  • Efficiently plan and manage complex projects, drawing upon best practices in project management to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Proven experience in working with administrative and big data (e.g., databases, data warehouses, customer data platforms, data management platforms, data lakes, advanced analytics) with established and emerging technologies.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques including hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analysing data, drawing conclusions, and developing actionable recommendations.

  • Demonstrate expertise in preparing complex documentation and reports, effectively communicating complex findings in a clear and actionable manner.

  • You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
