The Role
We are looking for a high-calibre appointee to join the General Office of the
School of Public Health (“the School”) to provide administrative support in
various functions. Major responsibilities include:
Support the School Secretary and play a versatile role in the management and operations of the School;
Support financial management (e.g. budgeting, financial review and reporting) and resource planning of the School;
Comprehensive human resources management, especially in the areas of professoriate and senior staff appointments, contract renewal, and performance review;
Support research administration; provide secretarial support to committees, working groups and advisory boards;
Office administration; general liaison with the Faculty Office and University central units;
Staff supervision and team-building; devising plans and mechanisms to improve work efficiency and retain corporate memory; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Qualities
A Bachelor's degree, and preferably a higher degree, along with a minimum of 8 years' administrative experience at supervisory level in the higher education sector;
Exceptional administration and management skills, particularly in human resources and finance;
Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in using IT software for administrative work;
Mature, diplomatic, with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity and work ethics; excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills;
Able to think in the big picture yet being attentive to details; good sense of priority and able to deliver under tight deadlines; and
Leadership skills and ability to mobilize resources; a good manager capable of training and motivating junior staff.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time basis for 2 years, to
commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to
satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end
gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of
basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
