    • About You Exciting Opportunity! Join RMIT as Senior Legal Counsel. This role entails serving as the primary contact for legal services, supporting the Deputy General Counsel and Associate Director in delivering high-quality legal advice to RMIT clients, particularly across the Research and Innovation portfolio, as well as other portfolios as may be required. Candidates with a strong legal background and a commitment to customer-focused service are encouraged to apply.

    To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • Substantial experience working as a lawyer in the area of intellectual property in private practice or an in-house environment. In-house experience in the higher education sector is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders from a range of experience levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering business-relevant and timely legal advice through quality engagement with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality in a diplomatic manner with the ability to lead and influence others.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a fast-moving team environment.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.

  • Providing high quality legal services that are aligned with, and responsive to, the commercial needs of RMIT;

  • Assisting RMIT to achieve its strategic objectives by working collaboratively with our University colleagues;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with subject matter experts within and outside of RMIT to ensure appropriate additional expertise is available when required.
