Harper Adams University is looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer/Reader in the engineering department, to fulfil a role that will involve engaging with the academic, personal, and professional development of undergraduate and post- graduate students. The role will involve active contribution to the development of relationships with graduate employers and commercial partners. Depending on experience, the role will require leadership in research, research income generation and supervision of PhD students and Post Doctoral Research Associates.

Main duties and responsibilities

1) Develop and deliver mechanical engineering teaching including lectures, tutorials, seminars, laboratory work and applied learning at a range of academic levels from undergraduate to postgraduate as well as short courses;

2) Actively support the department in the recruitment of students both at a national and international level. This includes working closely with the marketing department to develop marketing materials and media to promote engineering to all audiences;

3) Devise and lead applied research projects in engineering, working closely with academics and research at both intra and inter department, as well as other institutions and industry partners. This includes the publication and dissemination of research work undertaken;

4) Represent the department and university at key activities and events to ensure that the breadth of our academic and research work is understood by a wider sector;

5) Maintain and develop key industry and sector partners to further enhance and contribute to the vital work of the department and university;

6) Undertake appropriate pedagogic development to further develop and enhance engineering as a subject and discipline;

7) Represent the Engineering Department on relevant university committees;
