    About This Opportunity

    The Senior Lecturer, and practitioner, is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships between the General Practice Clinical Unit (GPCU) and general practices in greater Brisbane involved in practice-based teaching and research. The role will focus on supporting the development of a vibrant network of practices and strengthening engagement between the GPCU and general practices.

    Key responsibilities will include :

  • Teaching: Promote participation in practice-based teaching to the general practice community, and support practice involvement

  • Promote and facilitate the use of adult learning principles and other effective teaching approaches in practice-based teaching.

  • Identify strategies for improving the student experience on general practice attachments and quality assurance.

  • Research: Promote participation in practice-based research and support practice recruitment for GPCU research projects

  • Consult with practices in relation to research proposals, identifying strategies for improving proposals, and providing feedback to GPCU.

  • Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values.

  • Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and culturally safe workplace and learning environment.

    This is a part-time (20%), fixed-term position through to the 31st December 2024

    At Academic level C. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $129,609 - $149,217, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $151,643 - $174,585000 annually.

    About You

  • Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist qualification recognised by:

  • RACGP Royal Australian College of GPs

  • Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine

  • Existing networks with general practices and general practitioner teachers

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in the area of clinical general practice.

  • Experience in research and teaching in General Practice

  • An ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote General Practice rotations at a university and wider community level, including industry, government, and professional bodies.

  • Ability to operate independently and take responsibility for initiatives within a framework and guidelines established within the Faculty.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively and work with a wide range of people both internal and external to the University.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
