The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is the central office within the University responsible for the management of legal matters. We provide comprehensive legal advice and services to University Council, senior management and staff in relation to the University's governance and its diverse education, research and commercial endeavours. The Office of the General Counsel also coordinates access to external legal services as required.
The Opportunity
Are you an experienced legal professional looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact in the education sector?
We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our dynamic in-house legal team within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) at Monash. You will play a pivotal role in navigating complex legal matters and fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
The Corporate & Commercialisation stream supports the University's significant corporate matters and major projects, as well as all the commercialisation of Monash's intellectual property with a focus on spin outs and start ups, IP licensing, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and other complex work originating from the University's Innovation and Enterprise units.
About You
As the successful candidate you will be a qualified legal practitioner with at least four years' post admission experience. You enjoy working in a complex environment and adapting to a diverse range of matters and priorities on a daily basis. You have a proven ability to work autonomously and understand the importance of delivering exceptional customer service to key internal stakeholders and developing respectful and trusting relationships.
Your excellent communication and written skills along with your strong stakeholder management skills will see you succeed in this role.
