Senior Events Manager

Public Affairs Directorate, University Offices, Wellington Square, Oxford

Please note, this vacancy is for internal applicants only.

The Oxford Events team has had an exciting year, working with a new Vice- Chancellor and an increase in staff engagement and event enthusiasm. The 2024 programme of events includes a broad range of in-person and hybrid events, high-calibre lectures and debates, a University-wide VC Awards ceremony and showcase, VIP visits and a suite of ceremonial events.

We are seeking a highly experienced event management professional with a proven track record of delivering successful events, to join our small, friendly team. Ideally the post-holder would start at the beginning of July 2024.

Reporting to the Head of Events (a job-share), you will have responsibility for the strategic input, planning and project management of a range of major events, including in person, hybrid and online, running concurrently, which are critical to the University's reputation and operations.

A key element of this role is to input into ways of communicating major University initiatives and strategic priorities, to shape and promote ongoing debate. Senior Events Managers also serve as the expert authority on event management and offer advice and training to the wider University. This part of the role has grown in importance with the development of new forms of online and hybrid events in recent years.

You will have strong communication skills , adept at conveying key information to all University members of all levels of seniority. You will bring an insight-led approach to advising seniors and will have well-developed interpersonal and advocacy skills, employing tact, discretion and diplomacy.
