Senior Delivery Manager

IT Services, Central Oxford

The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the IT Services Department as a Senior Delivery Manager working in central Oxford (with the possibility of hybrid working).

IT Services is a key department that ensures that the University has robust, reliable and high-performing IT facilities it requires to support the distinctive needs of those engaged in teaching, learning, research and administration. We value and recognise our own and the contribution of others, creating a great culture to work in and a place where we all feel we belong.

The Senior Delivery Manager will lead the implementation of continual service improvement processes and tools across teams supporting a wide range of platforms and services within the IT Services Infrastructure Group.

What We Offer

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees' wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

  • An excellent contributory pension scheme
  • 38 days annual leave
  • A comprehensive range of childcare services
  • Family leave schemes
  • Cycle loan scheme
  • Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
  • Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs
  • This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working, in agreement with the line manager.

    About the Role

The Senior Delivery Manager will oversee and coach our IT infrastructure teams in delivering platforms and digital services through a product mindset approach and a discipline of continual service improvement. As the University transitions to product delivery as part of a digital transformation initiative this role is critical to ensuring IT infrastructure teams have optimised ways of working and supporting tools in place to fulfil the vision of each product, platform or service. The postholder has responsibility for liaising between technical and non-technical teams across portfolios relating to education, research, administration, engagement and technology; managing stakeholder expectations; communicating at different levels of the University; and enabling effective, agile change management in response to user requirements.

    About You

  • You will have proven experience as an agile delivery manager or similar within a digital service or product management context and an in-depth understanding of continual service improvement methodologies and toolsets.
  • Using this experience, together with your communication and negotiation skills, you will be able to coach, facilitate, and guide IT infrastructure teams and team leaders in the discipline of continual service improvement and agile delivery (using the wisdom of experience to apply what is essential and avoid that which may not be appropriate for any given platform or product).
  • Familiarity with the configuration and use of tools, such as Azure DevOps, for the management of roadmaps, backlogs, user stories, planning, and reviews will be a distinct advantage.
  • Application Process

You will be required to upload a supporting statement, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application. Applications without a supporting statement addressing how you meet each of the selection criteria may not be considered by the panel.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 21 October 2024.

Interviews will take place on Friday, 8 November 2024 and will be face to face.
