  • About This Opportunity

    The Senior Application Technical Analyst undertakes solution design and development within a large ERP system, using technical experience in software development and functional knowledge of ERP systems and system integration to design, document and develop solutions. The role is a senior escalation point within the team, supporting more junior team members in delivering services.

    The position reports to the Program Manager, Student Legislative and Policy Program (SLPP) and may be required to direct other professional or technical staff on work relating to specific tasks or projects and supervise staff.

    Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure adherence to UQ's Cyber Security Policy and standards, promoting sound cyber security practices in line with procedures established by the University or Division.

  • Engage in end-to-end solution design, development, implementation, and testing, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver features aligned with customer requirements. Manage stakeholder expectations around system constraints and participate in peer code reviews for knowledge sharing and quality improvement.

  • Undertake project management for significant IT projects and investigate operational requirements, problems, and opportunities in collaboration with stakeholders. Seek effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of processes.

  • Drive continuous improvement within the team, ensuring efficient service delivery through appropriate Change Management activities. Promote the use of agreed tools and methodologies. Provide senior technical advice, support, and mentoring to team members, acting as an escalation point for complex incidents and facilitating resolutions in line with service delivery expectations. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of systems for expert advice.

  • About You
  • Possess qualifications equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT, business, or a related field, or demonstrate significant progress towards such qualifications, combined with extensive relevant experience. Alternatively, showcase an equivalent combination of experience and education/training.

  • Demonstrate substantial experience in Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, either as a developer or as a functional/business analyst/consultant.

  • Exhibit significant experience in business analysis, technical solution design, building, testing, correcting, and documenting solutions within a large ERP system, aligning with agreed service delivery expectations. Additionally, demonstrate expertise in consulting, advising on, and coordinating IT projects across stakeholders of varying seniority levels, following contemporary project methodologies.

  • Showcase strong technical knowledge and significant experience in designing, coding, testing, and documenting complex programs and scripts for Oracle PeopleSoft applications, utilizing technologies such as Peopletools, XML Publisher, Unix, SQL, and banking interfaces. Display competence in undertaking peer code reviews and risk management activities. Work experience in agile development environments and familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies is crucial.

  • Possess excellent written communication skills, including the ability to articulate clear and precise user and technical specifications. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, effectively mentoring and providing technical leadership to team members. Showcase the ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse individuals, ensuring the integrity and availability of a large ERP system and achieving desired outcomes.
