About the position
La Trobe University is home to a dynamic community of researchers producing world-class research with an impact on society. The La Trobe Animal Research and Teaching Facility (LARTF) is a Research Platform that provides the expertise, infrastructure, and technical support required to facilitate the diverse range of research activities involving animals at La Trobe University.
The Senior Animal Technician will be located at La Trobe University's Melbourne campus in Bundoora and based within LARTF facilities. Reporting to one of the LARTF Senior Coordinators, the Senior Animal Technician will provide a high level of support and expertise within their allocated work area and perform advanced technical procedures to a high standard.
In addition, the Senior Animal Technician will work closely with the Area Supervisor and Senior Coordinators to deliver excellence in LARTF operations and services.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have;
Completion of a Diploma of Animal Technology or relevant degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Skills and experience with a variety of animals used in research and teaching, demonstrating sound knowledge of animal husbandry, breeding, health and welfare monitoring, and technical procedures.
