  • About You The Senior Advisor, Wellbeing Case Management, provides senior operational responses and manages student urgent and/or complex support needs. The role is accountable for timely and effective service delivery to support the welfare and wellbeing of students studying at RMIT. While working in a consultative and collaborative manner, this role also manages the day-to-day operations of the RMIT Staff Line, ensuring timely and responsive service and is crucial in managing critical incidents involving students. The Staff Line is a dedicated phone line for RMIT Staff to call when they hold concerns about a student's welfare or wellbeing and require timely assistance. The Senior Advisor Wellbeing Case Management must have the capacity to respond rapidly, sensitively and creatively to complex, extreme and unpredictable situations to mitigate psychosocial risk associated with the mental ill-health of RMIT students.

    To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated competency with evidence-based bio-psycho-social assessments using a sound knowledge base of mental health presentations and experience with undertaking risk assessments, including assessment of suicide risk and violence risk.
  • Sound clinical reasoning and decision-making skills for providing support, referrals and treatment for student-centred care that empower students to improve their wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and experience in managing caseloads, including complex case coordination and communication management with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed skills in working cooperatively, productively and flexibly in a team environment using strong interpersonal and resilience skills and proven ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and build networks.
  • A proven track record with using large-scale enterprise systems and databases, and skilled in accurate and data entry, process documentation and case records containing sensitive information according to specified standards, service model and timelines.
  • Demonstrated capacity to promote and build a culture of safety, quality and innovation and fosters a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Qualifications
  • A degree OR a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline and/or significant relevant professional experience at a similar level.
  • Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA) or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Desirable:

  • Mental Health accreditations in Social Work or Psychology
  • Experience working in the post-secondary education system and the issues facing diverse student cohorts in a dual sector environment.
  • Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
