How will you contribute?

We are looking for a motivated PhD candidate to join our research team in the field of 5G and 6G networking for Mission Critical Services (MCx). MCx provides critical communication services (voice, data) to first responders, public safety services, and others.

This research will focus on improving network resilience and resource efficiency in critical scenarios, such as natural disasters, global power outage or large public events. The candidate will investigate how to optimise MCx performance while anticipating the future evolution of these services in 6G networks, contributing to the development of innovative algorithms and strategies for next-generation networks.

In this context, your main focus will be to:

- Propose innovative approaches for optimising resource allocation in 5G and future 6G networks, focusing on resilience and power efficiency in critical situations.

- Explore MCx provisioning in different scenarios, such as public events, and evaluate network simulators to accurately replicate these situations.

- Designing and evaluating new strategies in collaboration with a leading mobile network operator to enhance network resilience and reliability, with the opportunity to test these strategies on a live 5G network.

This PhD offers flexibility for the candidate to explore different approaches within these broader themes, with the opportunity to work closely with both academia and industry. Collaboration with a mobile network operator will ensure real-world relevance. The publication of research papers will be highly encouraged based on your findings and advancements.
