Researcher – Antitheses Project

Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford), Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford

The Ethox Centre, an internationally-recognised multidisciplinary bioethics research centre situated within Oxford Population Health at the University of Oxford, is seeking an exceptional Researcher to help establish the ground- breaking ANTITHESES Platform for Transformative Inclusivity in Ethics and Humanities.

In an era marked by radical value disagreements, polarisation, and informational uncertainty, ANTITHESES addresses an urgent need for research that can meaningfully navigate these complex landscapes. As a Researcher on this pioneering project, you will have the opportunity to shape the scope and focus of ANTITHESES, working at the forefront of bioethics research.

Based at the University's Old Road Campus, you will benefit from ready access to major medical research institutes such as the Big Data Institute, the Clinical Trials Service Unit, the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, and the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre. This dynamic environment fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration and offers unparalleled opportunities for impactful research.

As a Researcher, you will be expected to collaborate in the preparation of literature reviews and research publications, develop ideas for generating research income, and contribute to the wider academic activities of the Nuffield Department of Population Health. You will manage your own research and administrative activities within the remit of the Antitheses project. This role provides an excellent platform for career development and the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the field of bioethics.

The ideal candidate will hold or be close to completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil and possess specialist knowledge in the discipline of bioethics. You should have the ability to manage your own academic research and have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations.

This is a full-time position (part-time considered) with a fixed term of 1 year, offering the opportunity to be part of a transformative project at a world-leading institution.

To apply, please upload your CV and a cover letter clearly describing how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description. The closing date for applications is noon on 1 July 2024.

Join us in shaping the future of bioethics research at the Ethox Centre. Apply now and be part of the ANTITHESES Platform for Transformative Inclusivity in Ethics and Humanities.
