This research technician post is based in the Biology Department within the internationally recognized York Biomedical Research Institute. The Hamilton lab studies neuroinflammatory diseases called leukodystrophies using a variety of models. The post holder will contribute to the general organisation of the lab, support the team and contribute to advance our research by analysing the contribution of the immune system to the pathology of leukodystrophy. This is a multi-disciplinary project: this post is at the border of neuroscience and immunology, focusing primarily on the brain immune cells, the microglia. The post holder will also be developing zebrafish models alongside iPSC models, using already established imaging assays in the transparent zebrafish.
This is a unique opportunity to develop your research skills in an exciting and clinically relevant environment. Applicants must have experience in laboratory work, and due to the short-term contract, preference will be given to candidates with experience in zebrafish in vivo work and/or iPSCs.
This project is funded for 2 years by a research grant to Dr Noémie Hamilton by the Academy of Medical Sciences.
