The post

The Faculty is seeking to appoint a Research Technician to provide technical support to the group of Professor Chris Bass in the laboratory and controlled environment rooms. This BBSRC funded post is available from 01/07/24, until 30/11/2025, in the Centre for Ecology and Conservation based at the Penryn campus.

The post-holder will support ongoing research in the group by performing a range of molecular and biochemical experiments including recombinant protein expression and conduct biological experiments with insects, including insect rearing and insecticide bioassays.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically.

Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have a good understanding and experience of the practical aspects of molecular biology, biochemistry and basic bioinformatics.
