Overview

The Tissue Morphodynamics Group in Prof. Celeste Nelson's lab seeks an enthusiastic research specialist for a full-time position at Princeton University. Our group investigates the physical forces and biochemical signaling that control the pattern and rate of development of branched organs.

The main responsibilities of this Research Specialist position are to carry out experiments that report on the energy metabolism taking place during lung development. The Research Specialist will also have an opportunity to develop their own research project and learn additional research techniques.

The position offers an excellent opportunity to participate in a dynamic research environment in an exciting fast-paced field of research. Your work will be central to several major research projects, including collaborations with other labs at Princeton University, Johns Hopkins, and the Mayo Clinic. This position will allow for professional advancement, skill development, and co-authorship on high-impact publications. This is a 1-year term position, with opportunity for renewal. The PI is dedicated to providing a supportive research environment and fostering the career development of all members of the research group.

Responsibilities
  • Performing a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules
  • Recording data and performing data analysis; organizing data into figures
  • Collaborating with other researchers in the lab
  • Qualifications

    Essential Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a research environment
  • Experience in using embryology techniques, including dissections, immunofluorescence staining, and imaging
  • Experience with organ culture
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 1+ year of relevant experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with safety practices in an academic laboratory environment desired
