The Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading is seeking a talented and motivated climate scientist to join an exciting international research programme analysing the latest generation of Earth System Model projections. Based within the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), this post offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of climate science as part of the major European-funded FUTURA (Future of climate change scenarios of the Earth System, impacts and socio-economic outcomes for assessment and society) project. The post is co-funded by the Ireland-UK Climate+ Co-Centre, providing additional opportunities to investigate regional climate change and extreme events affecting the UK and Ireland under a range of future emissions pathways.
The successful candidate will lead analysis of the new CMIP7 Fast Track Earth System Model simulations, focusing on large-scale modes of climate variability, regional extreme events and the implications of future climate pathways, including warming overshoot scenarios.
The post-holder will work closely with collaborators across Europe and will be part of a wider team that includes associated FUTURA researchers at the University of Reading and the UK Met Office.
