Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.:524518), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed term basis with contract- end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Master's or a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Sciences, and related disciplines from a recognised university. For Clinical Psychologist, they should be eligible for membership/registration of relevant professional bodies in Hong Kong or overseas. Post-qualification clinical experience in mental health agencies or tertiary education sector will be an advantage. Experience in evidence-based psychological interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will be necessary, and experience coaching frontline social workers or allied healthcare professionals will be preferred. Evidence of providing bi/multilingual counselling services in English and Cantonese and organizing well-being programmes is essential. Passion to work with family caregivers of older adults and experience working with high-achieving populations, and relevant experience in community projects with older adults and/or their carers are advantageous. Applicants should also have excellent communication skills including proficiency in Chinese and English (fluency in Putonghua would be required).

The appointee will plan and implement assessment efforts that inform evidence- based practice for programmes and services within the scope of the position. He/She will provide screening and risk assessment, individual and group counselling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention and consultation services as appropriate. He/She will lead protocol development and capacity-building training. Opportunities for professional development and supervision will be available. Working collegially and collaboratively with members of the Project Team, staff and external parties, the appointee will develop priorities and goals for the counselling services and interventions in support of family care well-being/mental health promotion among family caregivers of older adults. He/She will also receive regular supervision as well as other opportunities that foster professional development. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
