  • About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Officer to join A/Prof Sophie Valkenburg's research program in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Peter Doherty Institute. You will have the chance to contribute to groundbreaking research focused on understanding broadly reactive immunity against influenza and SARS-CoV-2 through innovative trials, studies, and next-generation vaccines. As a key member of the team, you'll have the autonomy to drive your research initiatives, conduct high level molecular and immunology projects, collaborate with experts in the field, and build a strong publication record in leading specialist journals.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in research independently and as a member of a research team
  • Primary research with advanced virus, molecular and immunology approaches and their analysis
  • The production of conference and seminar papers and publications
  • Active participation in the communication and dissemination of research
  • Supervision or co-supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects within related research area

    You will also have:

  • A PhD or working towards completion in immunology
  • Substantial experience in working with clinical patient specimens and animal models, innate and adaptive immune assay, at viral, cellular and molecular levels.
  • Sound knowledge of immunology and virology
  • Sound knowledge of data analysis
  • Experience in flow cytometry and tissue culture
